Verdant is a highly innovative 60-unit stacked townhouse project which incorporates affordability and advanced green practices. Robert Brown of Chesterman Properties was a principal of reSource Rethinking Building which was the development manger for this project. reSource partnered with SFU Community Trust and Vancity Enterprises. Through an innovative development and financing arrangement, the project was been sold at 20% below market value with an ongoing resale agreement to ensure affordability over the longer term. Integrated design and advanced green features have resulted in a 60% reduction in energy usage (+/-374 tonnes of emission savings) making it one of the most energy efficient multiunit residential buildings in Canada. Verdant won two UDI Awards in 2007 for Sustainability and Affordability.
